Short Trip to Amritsar

On arrival at Amritsar Airport or Railway Station you will be transferred to your hotel for checkin. Amritsar is a city in the northwestern Indian state of Punjab, 28 kilometers from the border with Pakistan. At the center of its walled old town, the gilded Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) is the holiest gurdwara (religious complex) of the Sikh religion. It’s at the end of a causeway, surrounded by the sacred Amrit Sarovar tank (lake), where pilgrims bathe. Evening is booked for a visit to the Wagah Border (Ticket on direct payment Basis). Every day, this place is visited by hundreds of nationals of both the country’s to witness drills performed by both male and female soldiers during ‘Beating the Retreat’ ceremony. The whole atmosphere is filled with the feeling of nationalism and national songs of both the countries are played on loud speakers. At the end of the ceremony, the flags of India and Pakistan are brought down. Return back to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel. (D)
