Neil Islands

Every journey leaves you with a story

About Neil Islands

Neil Island, officially renamed as Shaheed Dweep, is a small gem in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Niels Island is popular for its laid-back vibes, clear blue waters, and lush greenery. It’s the perfect escape for travellers looking for peace and beauty. This tiny island is less commercialised than its neighbour, Havelock, which makes it even more special for honeymooners, families, and solo travellers. White sandy beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and fresh tropical air make it a postcard-worthy destination.

The history of Neil Island adds a little more to its beauty; it was renamed Shaheed Dweep in 2018 to honour Indian freedom fighters. Today, the island’s natural beauty and calm village life make it a favourite stop for those on Andaman tour packages. With limited yet cosy resorts, bicycle-friendly roads, and stunning sunrise and sunset points, Neil Island gives visitors a wholesome island experience. Its beauty lies in its simplicity, a rare quality in today’s busy world.

Best Time to Visit Neil Islands

The best time to visit Neil Islands is from October to May when the weather is pleasant and perfect for outdoor activities. During these months, the skies are clear, the sea is calm, and water activities like snorkelling, diving, and glass-bottom boat rides are at their best.

June to September marks the monsoon season, bringing heavy rains and high waves that limit travel and water sports. If you want to enjoy vibrant marine life, fresh seafood, and pristine beaches without crowds, plan your trip during the winter or early summer months for a more relaxing experience.
