About Hanle

Hanle is a remote and beautiful village in Ladakh, known for its clear skies, peaceful landscapes, and unique charm. Located at an altitude of about 4,500 meters, it is one of the most isolated yet mesmerising destinations in India.

This hidden gem is home to the famous Indian Astronomical Observatory, one of the highest observatories in the world. Surrounded by barren mountains and open plains, Hanle offers travellers an experience of silence, beauty, and connection with nature. Many Ladakh Tour Packages now include this destination for those who love offbeat travel.

Apart from its observatory, Hanle also has monasteries, wildlife sightings, and a unique cultural touch that makes it special. Far from crowded tourist spots, it is ideal for stargazing, photography, and experiencing authentic Ladakhi life.

Best Time to Visit Hanle:

The Best Time to visit Hanle is from May to September, when the weather is pleasant and roads remain open. During these months, the skies are crystal clear, making it perfect for stargazing and photography. Winters are extremely harsh, with temperatures dropping far below freezing, and most routes remain closed due to heavy snow. Monsoon is also not suitable because of unpredictable landslides and travel difficulties. Hence, summer is the ideal season to explore Hanle’s natural beauty and its world-famous night skies without any travel restrictions.
