Athens
Every journey leaves you with a story
About Athens
Athens is located on the Greek mainland, in the Attica region, and is the capital and largest city of Greece. It's unique in its ancient history and modern energy. As one of the oldest cities in the world, Athens invites you to stroll through time by visiting the majestic Parthenon atop the Acropolis, wandering the remains of the Ancient Agora, or admiring the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Yet beyond the antiquities, there are cosmopolitan neighbourhoods, markets, artistic murals, and Greek cuisine.
Throughout the city, there are modern art galleries, archaeological wonders, and hip bars mingling with traditional restaurants. For travellers who love history, culture, or food, Athens is a unique tourism escape. Check out our Europe Tour packages to explore the best of Athens with us. With its easy access from many global hubs, rich mythology, and year-round charm, Athens both inspires and rejuvenates.
Best Time to Visit Athens
The best time to visit Athens is during the spring (March–May) or autumn (September–October) when light breeze, comfortable temperatures, and fewer tourists make for ideal sightseeing. During these shoulder seasons, the city feels vivid yet relaxed, as flowers are in bloom and outdoor cafes are full without the peak summer crowds.
Summer (June-August) is hot, often very sunny, which is great for coastal escapes but less pleasant for midday exploring. Winters are mild, but with more rain and shorter days—still manageable, especially if you enjoy museums and want to avoid the high-season prices.
